Fleurette “Flo” King—pronounced fleu‑ret‑ta—has spent more than three decades helping people learn, lead, and belong. Her unwavering commitment to making inclusion a daily practice in organizations, classrooms, and companies aims to inspire respect and admiration from her audience. Unity and solidarity reflect Flo’s legacy from childhood to current times.
Flo’s journey began with a deep love of sociology, which led to degrees from Bowling Green State University and DePaul University. That curiosity grew into a 29‑year career across institutions such as Loras College, DePaul University, Princeton, the University of Michigan, the University of Connecticut, and Colorado State University, where Flo shaped professional development, strengthened cultural centers, and guided strategic equity initiatives.
After nearly three decades in higher education and 2.5 years at Cisco, Flo expanded her impact as a belonging and equity leader in both education and corporate sectors. Her work as Director of Equity and Inclusive Teaching and Learning at Boulder Valley School District further demonstrates her dedication to meaningful change, inspiring pride and motivation in her audience. King champions the unvoiced and marginalized, while developing allies and agency.
When not leading or consulting, Flo finds joy in short beach walks, unique crafts, pickleball, cycling, fishing, a good documentary, and being a sports fan. She is a Chicago Gay Games medalist in racquetball, a favorite pastime. Across every chapter, Flo’s work is rooted in one belief: every leader is capable of making people feel seen, valued, and empowered to thrive!
Nimita Weiss, M.A., Educational Consultant Pronouns: All pronouns
Nimita Weiss is a South Asian queer immigrant with 28 years of experience in K–12 education—meaning they have survived everything from middle school standard testing to cafeteria duty. Nimita moved to Colorado from New Jersey 22 years ago and, after one bite of local pizza, seriously considered moving back East.
Over nearly three decades in education, Nimita has worn almost every hat imaginable: Social Studies teacher, Instructional Coach, Dean of Discipline (yes, they’ve seen it all), Assistant Principal, and currently, Equity and Diversity Specialist. Their career spans residential treatment facilities and charter schools across Denver, Jeffco, and Adams Counties.
Now entering their fifth year as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist for Jeffco Public Schools, Nimita is most proud of helping schools create meaningful structures to combat dehumanizing language, establishing protocols for empathy interviews, and—during a particularly volatile era for DEI work—managing to keep their job. They remain deeply committed to helping educators and students build schools rooted in belonging, vulnerability, and authenticity.
At home, Nimita captains a queer HinJew family, including an 18-year-old son who is heading to college this August (leaving behind an incredibly quiet house). Outside of work, Nimita enjoys painting, playing volleyball, and escaping into nature in their camper van, proving that you can take the person out of Jersey, but you can’t keep them away from a good road trip.
